The Vina Capital Foundation in Vietnam will match any money raised by Pumped! three times to pay for heart surgery for children whose parents simply cannot afford to pay for it, those that live on about $1 a day in Vietnam. These children literally won't be treated if money is not raised.

Last year Val, Thomas and Nick committed to cycling 1000 miles to work each. They raised over $10,000 which was matched in Vietnam to reach $33,527.25 and paid for twelve operations.  Eleven children survived, a few pictured below. We found that having a long term goal really helped us raise lots of money, and kept us fit too!

As we ride/run/swim/jog/hike/walk/skate the sponsorship will pay for operations to happen as soon as possible and so during the race we will see the money, and lives, mount up. There is nothing like an email letting you know that an operation was successful to help you give that 10% more when you exercise.

In 2013 Simon Monk ran the three peaks mountains in the UK in 24 hours and the next weekend cycled 150 miles coast to coast across England. He raised almost £2000 for Get Pumped and saved three children. You can see his Just Giving page here: http://www.justgiving.com/pumped-for-heartbeat-vietnam . We organised for his donations to go through the Somerville Foundation enabling them to manage gift aid, increasing the donations by over 20% and use 10% of the donations to raise money for Congenital Heart Defect support for adults in the UK. Everyone was a winner!
